2.9 understand how the functioning of enzymes can be affected by changes in temperature, including changes due to change in active site

As the temperature increases, the particles have more and more kinetic energy. This increases the chance of a successful collision so the rate increases. However, there is a temperature at which the catalytic activity is at its greatest (optimal temperature). Above the optimal temperature the rate of reaction begins to decrease due to denaturing of enzymes.
